Our traditional fundraiser has moved to Ipswich and this year we are raising money for kids in our community. We’ve been here a year now so time to give something back.
We believe all children should have the opportunity to learn and enjoy music and the arts. The South Streat Kids project allows those who may normally be able to experience this to get the opportunity.
Andee Martin will be at his place of work socialising with customers and friends from 7.30pm til midnight. He’ll only be able to say, write or text the phase ‘I am Groot’ Ben Chalmers will do the same with the phase ‘I’m Batman’. Yes, we are inspired by the the movies and comic books we love.
In previous years we’ve successfully raised money for another worthwhile causes, this year please sponser us if you can to help this great project. sponser forms are at the pub or contact Andee or Ben.
ALSO if you fancy joining us on.the evening and getting sponsored yourself please, please do, just let us know. I can assure you it isnt as easy as it sounds but is a lot of fun. it’d be great to get more people involved.
I’m also looking to put on a gig to raise from more money for this later in the year, if you’d like to get involved please get in touch.
Here’s a little more detail about the project from one of its founders
‘South Street Kids Radio Project is a bit like a family – it brings different young people together in a friendly welcoming safe environment.
Many of the young people we work with have financial barriers that stop them accessing music lessons, dance classes or even the equipment / instruments that will help them to learn.
With these funds, myself and a colleague will choose those young people who have show particular skills, talents and interest in arts, music, dance, theatre, allowing them to progress without giving up on their dream.
If you think that you can help we can assure you every single penny from this fundraiser will go directly to the young person.
We believe passionately that with a little encouragement, support and care the chance to have a lesson could significantly improve his choices and development. Learning vital life lessons around commitment, dedication, patience and developing the love of music and the personal satisfaction that comes from learning and sharing.
South Street Kids Radio works with some of the most disadvantaged families in Ipswich, and what we most want is to level the playing field when it comes to succeeding – so that it isn’t just those with financial capability that can have a hobby, interest or even a career in the arts.
Every bit of support counts – everyone here at Ipswich Community Media, IO radio and South Street Studios knows that music and the arts can change your life, or at least give you something to look forward to – we also know that these young people are bombastic, energetic, wonderful and creative and we DO NOT want them to miss out on being a part of creative Ipswich just because they do not have the finances.’
