Washing Machine & Toonteen Artist Management proudly present
GAFFA TAPE SANDY
HISTORY & LORE
For the last Washing Machine of 2019, we’re giddy with glee to welcome back a gung-ho, gargantuan grrrr-fest headlined by glorious garage-rock godheads GAFFA TAPE SANDY!
Formed in 2015 by three friends with a desire to do something loud and exciting, GAFFA TAPE SANDY’s popularity quickly escalated thanks to a series of incendiary live shows and a seemingly endless succession of instantly memorable garage-punk/rock tunes.
The Brighton/Bury St Edmunds outfit’s brand of giddily frantic, high-octane hyper rock ‘n’ roll has landed them support slots with acts including IDLES, Peace, Art Brut, Weakened Friends, SuperGlu, Bloody Knees and UK tours with Skegs and Indoor Pets.
Debut EP ‘Spring Killing’ lead to them performing at Glastonbury Festival 2017, with their next single ‘Beehive’ gaining much support including Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 1 Tip Of The Week, before being included in NME’s 100 Essential Acts for 2018.
In 2018 they released their single ‘Meat Head’ before hurling themselves headlong onto the festival circuit – tearing up stages all over the UK from Live At Leeds and Liverpool Sound City to The Great Escape and Latitude Festival – as well as their first international performances at Germany’s Waldstock Festival and Iceland Airwaves. 2019, meanwhile, has seen further festival action (including a rapturously-received appearance at Truck) and the release of their long-anticipated second EP ‘Family Mammal’ (preceded by the singles ‘Headlights’ and ‘So Dry’) to universal critical acclaim.
Support comes from fuzz-drenched pop warriors BEACH RIOT, epic indie heroes HISTORY & LORE, post-hardcore pirates CUTTING TIES and stoner-surf-punks WRECKS.

WASHING MACHINE IS A SAFE SPACE
We take audience safety very seriously at The Hunter Club, and strongly believe that gigs can and should be safe spaces, free from harassment, intimidation, prejudice, bullying and violence. We expect that all artists, crew, venue staff and attendees will respect our values, and we have a zero tolerance policy towards those who do not. Anyone who endangers the enjoyment and safety of others at a Washing Machine night will be ejected and barred. It is unfortunate that in 2019 we still have to say this stuff, but we hope that by doing so we can help to create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and able to enjoy themselves.
